Research Leads to Oasis of Hope

Due to the $3,500 cost for the blood test (to determine whether I was a candidate for treatment, with no guarantee that I would qualify) and the $30,000 up front fee and $5,000 per month budget for medications and follow ups amounting to as much as $100,000 for a year of treatment at the Burzynski clinic, combined with their lack of nutritional and faith based therapies, I continued to search for other options.

My search led me back to Dr. Francisco Contreras and the Oasis of Hope Hospital in Tijuana, Mexico. In 50 years, Oasis of Hope has treated over 100,000 patients, and have experienced survival rates from 2 to 8 times higher than the national averages, according to Oasis of Hope’s 5 year clinical study and the data published by the National Cancer Institute. The Oasis of Hope is located in the beach area of Tijuana and is visited by many tourists, which helped satisfy my safety concerns. Dr. Contreras was trained by his father, the late Dr. Ernesto Contreras, Sr. who was the father of alternative cancer treatment in the 1960’s. Dr. Francisco Contreras completed his specialty in oncology in Vienna, Austria and has been the director of Oasis of Hope Hospital for the last 30 years. His integration of alternative and conventional cancer therapies, combined with his knowledge and experience, were what first grabbed my attention. The integration of spiritual support, and the fact that it began as part of Dr. Ernesto Contreras treatments, and has continued for 45 years, led me to schedule a consultation.

Upon arrival at the Oasis of Hope in February of 2013, I soon discovered that this place is a God-send. Dr. Contreras and much of the staff are Christians. The Hospital provides a daily worship time for patients, and on Sunday mornings, Dr. Contreras comes to the hospital to conduct church services for the patients. The idea of having a doctor that would pray with me was a huge blessing. The treatments began to yield positive results fairly soon after implementation. A big part of the experience was the value of nutrition as part of the integrative therapy. Oasis of Hope serves only locally grown, organic food to it’s patients, and cooking classes are held frequently to help you learn how and what foods to prepare when you begin your home treatment plan. I am really excited about the results I’ve seen so far, and I look forward to continuing with my home treatment plan.
