On January 4, 2012 Dr. Futran of the University of Washington Medical Center diagnosed Kim with a recurrence of a squamous cell carcinoma cancer tumor at base tongue as well as CAT scan evidence of an enlarged lymph node. He said without treatment, she has a 60% chance of living in a year, and only 20% chance of living the second year. However, within this time frame the cancer could spread to her lungs, bones or lymph nodes and dramatically decrease her survival rate. Below is Kim’s pathology report regarding her diagnosis.
